A Gateway to Hope Tour

Twenty-one-year-old Neka is a bit of an introvert, she also happens to be
stunningly beautiful.
When she discovers her friend James is about to be dumped, she sees the
perfect opportunity to escape from her quiet life. Can she summon the courage
to leave it all behind?

James Copley comes from a ruthless family. It’s rubbed off. Years ago, he
disengaged from his brother’s smear campaign, but now his father has offered
him an ultimatum, “Get married or lose your seat at the table.” Plotting to
stamp his design on the family business, he proposes to a woman, even though he
doesn’t love her. But his carefully laid plans start to unravel when she leaves
him on the day she’s due to meet his family. Could years of planning his
comeback vanish with her departure?
A possible solution comes in an unexpected form: Neka. She’s not only a
friend, but the daughter of his benefactor. And she’s right there, offering to
support him. But will her support stretch to marriage? He attempts to win her
over to his plan but collides with her powerful father who wants to leverage
the situation for his own gain.
In their fight for survival and love, they are forced to face some
uncomfortable truths.
Can they overcome thwarted dreams and missed chances to find true love, or
does forcing destiny’s hand only lead to misery?

1. What was the hardest part of writing your book, and how did you overcome it?

Finding the time to write while working a full-time job presented enormous challenges. Unfortunately, I would fall into bed around midnight and begin my new day at 4:00 a.m. Toward the end of the editing stage, I was almost too exhausted to think. And then my body took over and demanded rest. Longevity matters. This time around, I will write the first draft, shelve it for a month, and finish my YA book.  Hopefully, both books will be published this time next year.

2. Given unlimited resources, what would be your ideal writing environment?

A quiet, trouble-free oasis filled with friendly people. Birds will wake me up with singing every morning. There will be no interruptions until the last word is written. Once finished, I will eat a satisfying meal, and then sprawl on the couch with a good book.

Cover Reveal for On Paper by Shae Scott

Title: On Paper
Author: Shae Scott
Genre: New Adult Contemporary
Release Date: August 18, 2015

Synopsis

“Expectation is the root of all heartache.” -William Shakespeare
Keaton Harris always thought he would be reporting from the front lines as a hard-hitting news reporter. He never expected to become a best-selling romance writer. But the job definitely has its perks, like the long line of ladies who are eager to become his muse for a night.
He doesn’t expect to meet Quinn Ryan at a book convention. He doesn’t expect to be taken with her so quickly. She is beautiful. Smart. Quiet…and totally giving him the cold shoulder.
Quinn has no interest in becoming a Keaton Harris groupie, no matter how hot he is. She learned a long time ago that playboys make dangerous playthings. But when he proves to be more than she expected she finds herself weakening to his charms.
One week. That’s all it was supposed to be. One week to have an adventure, to be someone else. It was never supposed to go any further than that.
Maybe that Shakespeare guy was on to something

REVIEW- ALICE BY CHRISTINA HENRY

A mind-bending new novel inspired by the twisted and wondrous works of Lewis Carroll

In a warren of crumbling buildings and desperate people called the Old City, there stands a hospital with cinderblock walls which echo the screams of the poor souls inside.

In the hospital, there is a woman. Her hair, once blond, hangs in tangles down her back. She doesn’t remember why she’s in such a terrible place. Just a tea party long ago, and long ears, and blood…

Then, one night, a fire at the hospital gives the woman a chance to escape, tumbling out of the hole that imprisoned her, leaving her free to uncover the truth about what happened to her all those years ago.

Only something else has escaped with her. Something dark. Something powerful.

And to find the truth, she will have to track this beast to the very heart of the Old City, where the rabbit waits for his Alice.

From the Trade Paperback edition.

BOOK DESCRIPTION COURTESY OF AMAZON

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

ALICE is a darker, more twisted look into the world of Alice in Wonderland.  The characters and world building is very well-developed. Rabbit is not the fluffy bunny we all loved as a child, but one of four bosses of the Old City. He sells girls into the sex slave trade. The other bosses are the Walrus, Caterpillar, and Cheshire. The only one of theses bosses that is not into the sex slave trade is Cheshire. Now ten years ago Alice was found outside of New City jabbering about a rabbit, and she was covered in blood, and had a cut on her cheek. Her family thought she was crazy and a threat to herself. They locked her up in the asylum for ten years. While she is in there she becomes friends with the man who is in the room next door. They communicate through a mouse-hole in the wall. His name is Hatchet. He got the name when he was found with an ax in his hand and there was men dead all around him. He doesn’t remember anything from that day. He has gaps of memory loss. The night they escape the asylum is when it catches fire, and everything is in chaos. Something also escapes with them that has been locked up for a very long time in the basement.

He has been forgotten like the Magicians that put him there.  The name of the thing is called the Jabberwocky. Alice and Hatchet will travel across the Old City to find something the destroy the Jabberwocky, and also face what happened to them in the past. This book also has elements of the book of old, but in a more twisted sadistic way. I loved the book and could not put it down. I was rooting for Alice and Hatchet throughout the book. This is a great twist to an old tell. I recommend this book to everyone, and I give ALICE 5/5 STARS. Christina Henry has a hit on her hands with this book. If you love her Black Wing novels you will love this book. I want more Alice.

The hum of the engine died, and Aria heard the scream of unfamiliar words in a language she didn’t recognize. Shots were fired in every direction forcing her to duck, throwing herself onto the floor of the ship.

James lay right beside her, covering Aria with his body, shielding her from danger. She didn’t have the courage to ask what happened.

The warmth and security Aria felt from James vanished. A man covered in tattoos, his arms a canvas of ink, grabbed James by the arm and dragged him across the room. The second man accompanying him lifted Aria from the floor and escorted her up the stairwell. James walked just a few feet in front. The man dropped his hold on her as the passageway narrowed. A gun pressed into her back, a constant reminder of danger. Aria couldn’t fight without risking her life. She hoped these men would steal what goods they came for and then leave.

Forced outside, the lifeboats were just a few feet away.

The sun began to set, and the sky twinkled like a sapphire without a cloud in the heavens.

Even at dusk, beads of sweat trickled against Aria’s forehead. Her black shirt stuck to her back, the cargo pants she wore were too hot for this climate. She didn’t dare ask where they were; she didn’t believe anyone would answer.

They were forced against the wall. Would the lifeboats even float anymore? The old luxury cruise liner’s paint faded from years of sun exposure. What would it have been like fifty years ago, before the devastation and destruction that their parents created, taking a luxury cruise? She would never know. The Gem Apocalypse had resulted in a war with only survivors, no heroes.

“Move!” the man behind Aria said. His gun dug further into her back, and she pushed forward on James’s heels. “Down!”

They got down onto the ground with the other crew and passengers. Six men towered over them with guns. Aria was unfamiliar with the weapons, as they were larger than the ones the guards carried at the palace.

“We’ll be okay,” James said as he sat beside Aria, reaching for her hand.

Aria wanted to ask him how he could know that without a doubt. Hope shrank like a beacon of light fading in the distance. These men were thieves. She could smell the treachery and greed from where she sat. How did they end up here?

REVIEW- TELL ME SOMETHING BY AUBREY BONDURANT

tell me somethingFree on Wed/Thursday (7/22 & 7/23) on Amazon. Get your copy, I have mine.

The sexual tension is palpable; the erotic path they’re on is inevitable.

Haylee Holloway has experienced more grief than a twenty-two year old should have to endure. When she moves to LA for a fresh start and takes a job as an assistant for an advertising company the last thing she expects is to have to step in last minute during a photo shoot as the model. Her bikini line and weight are suddenly open topics of discussion, and a client’s million dollar campaign is hanging in the balance. To cap it off, the multi-millionaire, gorgeous owner of the company shows up and takes charge.

Josh Singer, the owner of Gamble Advertising is private, intense, and hard to read. His voice is sexy, his eyes are smoldering and when he learns of Haylee’s goal to save money for law school, he makes her an offer she can’t refuse:
To move to New York City and work for him directly as his assistant.

Haylee’s dilemma: how does she travel the world with a hot boss whose voice alone conjures up an erotic fantasy and not completely make a fool of herself? Frustrated with Josh’s mixed signals, Haylee finally puts it all on the line. Blurring both their professional and personal lives can they keep things temporary as planned or will they both realize some things weren’t meant to end?

Full Length Standalone book with no cliffhanger. First book of the “Something Series”
This book is for mature audiences only

I was given a copy of this book by the Author for an honest review.

TELL ME SOMETHING a very hot, sensual read. It will suck you in and not let you go until the book is done. The characters and story line are very well-developed. When Haylee’s star model decides that she wants more money and that she can only do an hour of photo shots, when she is scheduled for four hours. They tell her she is in breach of contract and the model leaves. Haylee then has to step in as the model. This gets the attention of Josh the owner of the company. He wants to have her be his assistant, because his current assistant has some family problems he has to deal with. When Josh and Haylee are together the sexual tension is off the charts. I want to find my own Josh, because he is very caring and attentive to Haylee. I loved this book and will be reading more from Aubrey Bondurant. I recommend this book to everyone,  and I give TELL ME SOMETHING 5/5 STARS.  this is an author to watch out for.
