More
than 200,000 South Korean infants and toddlers left their motherlands in the
arms of strangers from the postwar era. “Returned and Reborn: a Tale of A
Korean Orphan Boy” is the first novel about such an orphan–a boy fathered
by a missionary priest who established the first Catholic Adult Institute in
South Korea. This fiction is based on a true story, mixed with Korea’s modern
history–Vietnam War in which 300,000 South Korean troops fought (5001 were
killed); the unintentional harm the American military caused to the Korean
people by disposing millions of gallons of toxic chemicals called “Agent
Orange” in the Korean water ways and soil; and the Korean society’s
contempt against children of mixed blood, children born of unwed mothers, and those
born with birth defects. It’s the story of a young man’s journey of self
discovery from an aimless American with no knowledge of himself or his roots
who returns to his birth country, reunite with his Korean birth mother dying
from cancer caused by consuming toxic water over time, but unexpected accident
separate them permanently. Yet, through her and his deceased father’s former
co-workers, he learns of his father’s greatness as well as his weakness, as an
ambitious American Jesuit who fulfilled his big dreams but caused his birth and
troublesome journey as an orphan forced to leave his mother who couldn’t raise
him. Still, in a mysterious way, he finds his own path–the path to a mission
trip to North Korea.

Da
Vinci’s secret pales. Michelangelo concealed an explosive truth in his famous
Creation of Adam fresco in the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican. Eve did not cause
the fall of man. She carried a far more devastating secret for millennia—one
that will change the world forever.
As
the modern-day world suffers the cataclysmic effects of the “Plagues of Egypt,”
Avery Fitzgerald, a statuesque Astrophysics major at Stanford, discovers that
she is mysteriously bound to five strangers by an extremely rare condition that
foremost medical experts cannot explain. Thrust into extraordinary
circumstances, they race against time to stay alive as they are pursued by an
age-old adversary and the world around them collapses into annihilation.
Under
sacred oath, The Guardians—a far more archaic and enigmatic secret society than
the Freemasons, Templars, and the Priory—protect Avery as she embarks on a
daring quest that only legends of old have been on before. Avery must come to
terms with the shocking realization that the blood of an ancient queen flows
through her veins and that the fate of the world now rests on her shoulders.

EXCERPT

Remi had always dreamed that he would do meaningful work in his life. His parents repeatedly told him that he had a great destiny ahead of him and that one day he would do amazing things. Remi believed that perhaps one day he would become a senator or congressman and would change the lives of millions of people. The fact that at twenty-one, he was now in a room with the President of the United States, his chief of staff, and possibly the only congressman left alive, working on a plan to keep the United States government functional, left him with mixed feelings. It was awe inspiring on the one hand, but on the other, the circumstances around which it was happening were terrifying.

As the four men conferred around an old coffee table, which had now become the platform on which the future of the United States was being shaped, the door to the war room burst open and a Marine rushed in with terror in his eyes. He doubled over, choking, like something was stuck in his throat. Remi rushed to his aid.

“What now?” the president barked. He was frustrated and at a loss after everything that had happened over the last few hours. He had run out of patience, and his capacity for sympathy was completely eroded.

“Mr. President, you need to come up to the surface entrance. You need to do it now,” the Marine said, gasping for air.

The president knew enough about the Marines’ degree of professionalism that he did not object.

Everyone followed the Marine down the hall and hopped into the Humvee for the three-minute ride up the steeply inclined roadway to the entrance of the bunker.

“Maybe you should slow down for a minute and catch your breath.”

“I am going to be fine, Mr. President. I am able to breathe a lot better now, sir.”

“Sorry I was curt earlier. It’s been a rough few days, and my nerves are a little frayed. I should have been more compassionate.”

They stopped at the head of the roadway, which was protected by a steel gate large enough for a semi-truck. Instead of opening the gate, the Marine walked to the side and opened a smaller door that led down a short hallway and to a steep set of stairs. The group of men climbed up the stairs in silence and emerged at the top of the guard tower.

The president was the first to step out of the stairwell and into the guard tower opening. He let out a loud gasp. His chief of staff followed and let out an equally loud expletive. As Remi stepped out of the stairwell, he had instinctively braced himself for anything; yet still, what he saw shocked him to his core.

GSR Blitz – Diantha

My name is Robyn Echols. Zina Abbott is the pen I use for my historical novels. I’m a member of Women Writing the West and Western Writers of America. I currently live with my husband in California’s central valley near the “Gateway to Yosemite.”I love to read, quilt, work with digital images on my photo editing program, and work on my own family history.

I am a blogger. In addition to my own blog, I blog for several group blogs including the Sweet Americana Sweethearts blog, which I started and administer.

The daughter of a
Georgia plantation owner, Diantha Ames was raised and educated to be a lady.
Surviving the Civil War as a child, her family, in a desperate, but ultimately
unsuccessful bid to save the property of both her father and her uncle,
arranges a marriage between her and her first cousin. Although not a love match,
she and Eugene were amiable. As information about her husband comes to light
after his death in the Gold King Mine disaster that took so many lives in
Wildcat Ridge, she is left with her husband’s hotel and postmaster position to
fill—and a lot of questions.
Diantha coverWith Diantha’s
former laundress gone, she hires Hilaina Dowd, whose family hails from the
mountains of Appalachia. Hilaina loyally stays with her mother who wishes to
live out her life in Wildcat Ridge and be buried next to her husband who died
in the mine disaster.
Henry “Hank”
Cauley is branded a failure after refusing to be part of his father’s Salt Lake
City brick-making business and then losing his stationary and book store
business. To bury him far away, his brother and conniving sister-on-law use
their political influence with the territorial Congressional representative to
award him the postmaster position in Wildcat Ridge. He arrives in town to take
over the position starting the first of September only to discover the
postmistress, Diantha, knows nothing about the change, and is not relieved she
no longer is obligated to fill this position originally awarded to her deceased
husband. Finding himself surrounded by those loyal to the soft-spoken, Southern
lady, is he destined to also be a failure in Wildcat Ridge?
Buckley “Buck”
Kramer, wrangler on the Grassy Fork Ranch in Colorado, has not been totally
satisfied with his lot ever since the trip he took to Wildcat Ridge earlier in
the summer with his boss and best friend now he sees the happiness of family
life the two men enjoy after they brought back wives. When two trail-worn young
brothers stumble onto the ranch looking for a meal and permanent jobs, but are
told with winter coming on there is only room for one, Buck insists on leaving
in order to keep the brothers together. Is Buck really dissatisfied with his
job on the ranch, or is this an excuse to return to Wildcat Ridge and the woman
he has not been able to get out of his mind?

Diantha, Book 14,
is a stand-alone novel. However, you might enjoy it best by reading all the
books in the series, The Widows of Wildcat Ridge. Also, my other book in the
series, Nissa, Book 3, was written to
be a duet with Diantha—a series
within a series. You might also enjoy reading Nissa if you have not already done so.

Snippet:
“One of the men killed was the
postmaster. He wasn’t a miner, but he took part in the rescue attempt that
ended up claiming the lives of a lot of merchants and businessmen in town. With
enough people still there to justify a post office, and the position now open,
the government is looking for someone who is willing to move to such a remote
location to fill it. Since it is a small office without mail delivery every day
with only a minimal monthly salary, it means you would need to live frugally on
the income provided. I…” Louis glanced across the table at his wife. “We
thought it would be a good opportunity for you, since you do not seem to wish a
future in the brick business.”
          Hank
fought down the surge of excitement welling up within him. This position held
great possibilities. It would bring in a steady source of income—money over
which he had complete control—for a job that would leave him enough freedom to
pursue his own desired career. He could find a small retail space and once
again open his shop. He could use the leftover inventory he had crated up and
stacked in both his room and a back wall of a storeroom at the brickyard. If
the post office building was big enough, he could sell his inventory there.
Most importantly, he would have time to finish his novel he had almost
completed before he had been forced out of his shop and into a job working for
his brother. No, he would do that before he left.

          A
quick glance at the smirk of satisfaction on Della’s face told him she was the
mastermind behind him being offered a position far away from Salt Lake
City—completely disassociated from the business she wanted to eventually go to
her son, Louis Junior, rather than to Hank. For once, he felt grateful he had
not indulged in his usual hair-trigger tendency to act—often over-react—to a
situation. It would never do to let Della know he welcomed the prospect.

SYNOPSIS

A Justice Hustlers Novel

She’s beautiful, unpredictable–and on the run from dangerous men. But this
ex-side chick is ready to risk everything to help others in trouble . . .

Fed up with her married Miami boyfriend, savvy Dulce has no problem stealing his
drug-dealer stash and fleeing to her family in the Caribbean. But when she gets bored in rural Santo Domingo, she escapes on a sugar daddy adventure to Puerto Rico. Her new life is one endless party, until she’s caught in Hurricane Maria–and witnesses the brutal collision of colonization and climate change, as well as the international vultures who plunder the tragedy for a financial killing, making shady use of relief funds to devastate the island even more. Broke, traumatized, and stranded, Dulce’s only chance to get back to New York may be a sexy, crusading journalist who’s been pursuing her. But is she hustling him or falling for him?

Meanwhile, New York-based mastermind thief Marisol already has her hands full fleecing a ruthless CEO who’s stealing her family’s land in Puerto Rico, while trying to get her relatives out alive after the hurricane. An extra member in her crew could be game-changing, but she’s wary of Dulce’s unpredictability and reputation for drama. Still, Dulce’s determination to get justice draws Marisol in, along with her formidable Lower East Side Women’s Health Clinic’s heist squad. But their race-against-the-clock plan is soon complicated by powerful men who turn deadly when ex-side chicks step out of the shadows and demand to call the shots . . .

SIDE CHICK NATION

EXCERPT

Several months earlier . . .

Dulce Garcia crept toward the back door of the nightclub’s VIP room on the balls of her stiletto sandals, trying not to wake her boyfriend. He lay, splayed back on the leather couch, in a post-orgasmic half-doze. She spat into an empty beer bottle, and tiptoed to the room’s back door. She tried to push it open with her free hand, but it was too heavy. She needed two hands for this.

She stuck the knot of money down into her cleavage, and pushed with both palms flat. The large metal door creaked against rusty hinges. In the humid Miami climate, cheap metal springs like these always rusted. This back door, required by the Florida fire code as a secondary exit, was rarely used. She tried to close it quietly behind her, but the metal was too heavy, and it tipped her forward in the six-inch gold heels.

The slam of metal on metal woke her boyfriend. As she crept away down the dank, concrete hallway, she heard him call to her. His voice was usually loud, but it sounded faint through the thick slab of steel: “Dulce? Where’d you go, mami?” She tiptoed down the hallway to the outer door that would lead to the back alley.

But the steel could not contain the roar of rage when he realized his money was missing. She had felt a second bulge in his pants when she unzipped his jeans. As she went down on him, she had slipped the wad of bills out of his front pocket, and palmed it after he finished.

Through the metal, she could hear the slam of the VIP room’s other door. He had assumed she’d headed back into the club. She grinned as she pulled the handle for the alley exit, expecting to cut around the corner and hail a cab for a quick getaway. Uber was out of the question. It was his credit card on the account.

But the alley door was locked. She pulled with all her strength, but it wouldn’t budge. Either locked or rusted shut. She looked around frantically, afraid she would be trapped. She couldn’t retrace her steps through the VIP room—in case he came back looking for her. She ran now, not even trying to be quiet. As she sprinted toward the other end of the hallway, there was a second door that led through a storage room. Either way, she’d need to find her way out through the club. The club where her Dominican drug dealer boyfriend would be assembling his crew of boys to find her, the side chick turned “fucking bitch” who’d stolen his take for the night.

Britney Mills was born in Utah but
parts of her heart lie in Boston, Washington D.C. and Germany. Her love of
writing began with the third grade book her teacher assigned her to write and
she spent hours hidden behind her mother’s couch writing pages and pages about
knights and castles. Now she writes about romance. Go figure.
When she’s not mothering her 4 small children, writing or reading, she’s
probably out playing a sport, going on a hike, or binge watching a murder mystery
series. The way to her heart is through homemade chocolate chip cookies and
five minutes peace.

The Australian Billionaire coverA self-made billionaire, his real
estate agent and three weeks to find the right property.
Jackson Walker hasn’t had the best family life. Growing up in the foster system
in Australia, it wasn’t until he met his college football coach that he
understood what a normal family looked like. When he gets the call that Coach
has passed away, he returns to California for the funeral and to find a place
to honor the man.

Hailey Montgomery threw herself into real estate soon after breaking up with
her boyfriend nearly five years ago. She’s been working to build a name for
herself and when the chance to make partner at her firm becomes available, she
jumps at the chance. But the only way to achieve that distinction is to find a
commercial property for the guy she’s nicknamed ‘Golden Boy’ from all the
stories her father told about him.

As spending time together brings them closer, the trust between them is called into
question. Can they work through what’s happened in their individual pasts to
create a relationship that will last?

Snippet:
They danced for two songs, the second
one much slower than the last and Hailey couldn’t get enough of the cologne
Jackson was wearing. As she rested her chin on his shoulder, she wondered if
she was really living a fairytale or if she’d wake up tomorrow with a
pretty dress and the clear sight of how her real life was so boring.
