A Guide for Healing and Claiming What’s Yours

Self-help, personal development, psychology, spirituality, trauma
healing

Date Published: August 5, 2024

Everything you want: all the riches of the world, the depth, beauty, the
fun.

Everything you want is in the underworld of your psyche.

This is where our capacity to experience lives.

Yet, most of us barely know what is happening in our own mind and are at
least a little terrified of who we might really be.

Just as our wishes and dreams live in the underworld of our psyche, so do
our worst fears, the things we desperately want to run from. This is the
treasure.

Our traumas, patterns, addictions, seedy desires, and repressed memories
once welcomed and transformed by the light of our consciousness give us our
greatest power, creativity, and magnetism.

This is your guidebook to your underworld that you might claim everything
that you are.

Fracture to Integration in the Psyche

It is easiest to understand this process of fracturing and integrating if we start by examining how integration happens so beautifully on its own, without our conscious involvement or effort. Consider for yourself a moment of challenge in your life that you now feel nothing but gratitude for. Look for an experience that tested you, something you felt was beyond your capacity or safety, but now it is free of fear or resentment when you think of it. Bring this experience up in your mind as we move through the stages of integration below.

The psyche goes through the following stages when separating and unifying to become more:

  1. Survival Response
  2. Surrender
  3. Rebirth
  4. Integration

Each of these stages is like an initiation to a new level of being. It could be that you went through all of this in minutes, or it could be that it took years to transition from stage to stage. In the following pages, I will outline each stage in more detail. To illustrate it more tangibly, I’ll use an example of how my own psyche and system naturally integrated an important experience in my own life: the birth of my children

All families have their secrets. How far will they go to keep them
hidden?

Savannah Schaeffer believed she was protecting her daughter by keeping the
dark truths of their family’s secrets. Now, facing her imminent
mortality, Savannah realizes her efforts may have caused more harm than
good. With little time to waste, she finds a way to work around her
inability to speak the truth. She prepares a scavenger hunt to reveal the
secrets of her past that she had withheld from her daughter, Chloe.

The scavenger hunt will lead Chloe to two explosive journals—her
great-grandmother’s and her grandfather’s—to reveal how
intergenerational trauma impacted Savannah’s life and why she kept it
secret. Chloe also has plans for the final week of her mother’s life. She
has promised to honor her mother’s wish for a peaceful passing.

A palliative care physician, Chloe is ready from a medical standpoint but
feels unprepared personally. She has called off her engagement at her
mother’s request and is now second-guessing her decision. She also wants to
understand her mother’s choice never to marry.

Making Up Stories: A Novel tells the story of family secrets and explores a
mother’s and daughter’s desire to break free from intergenerational trauma.
It’s a story about their love for each other and the sacrifices they’re
willing to make for each other. Complex characters and situations raise
profound, sometimes unanswerable questions about family, life’s gray areas,
and the promise of hope.

Successful, college educated men in their twenties and thirties are
admitted to psychiatric institutions claiming to be angels in a satanic
army. They know their rank, mission, and commanding officer. Many had no
prior religious background. Friends, Jonathan Hart, a reporter, and Charles
Atwater, a psychologist collaborate on studying these patients with Angelic
Psychotic Disorder. They discover that what they call the Dark Angel
movement has people placed in the highest levels of government. The book
examines the ease of which a charismatic leader promising peace could
persuade people to give up their individual rights. It questions the
strength of faith, what normal people are capable of when confronted with
enormous challenge, and the impact on individual relationships.

Prologue

OVER THREE GENERATIONS, the Hart family has given the world Thomas Hart, a celebrated documentarian, William Hart, a religious studies professors, and Jonathan Hart, an investigative journalist. Their lives were all impacted by Dr. Aaron Davis. He founded an organization called the Brotherhood of Man that united the religions of the world into one “true religion.” His sister Esther Davis, William’s mother, was an offi cer of the parent corporation and one-fourth owner making her a formidable and wealthy woman.

The Brotherhood became a powerful political organization creating a large military peacekeeping force. When the United States and other countries refused to give up their nuclear weapons, the Brotherhood attempted to force them militarily.

Tom Hart met Esther when he worked on the Aaron Davis Show at the Christian Media Broadcasting Network owned by Dr. Davis. He left the show when he discovered that Aaron and Esther had been involved in a sexual relationship since she was a young girl. Esther came to realize she was a victim and aft er undergoing counseling resigned her position at the Brotherhood.

She and Tom became involved and released a documentary revealing the truth about Aaron and the Brotherhood. Aaron attempted to kill her for her betrayal but was wounded in the attack, and the Brotherhood became a shell of its former self. Esther and Tom married and had a son, William. He becomes a religious studies professor and was desperate to atone for his uncle’s legacy. He found references in Dr. Davis’s doctoral dissertation papers of a lost manuscript believed to be an alternate version of the book of Revelation. He soon discovered that Paul Rutledge, a powerful Satanist, was also searching for the lost text and would stop at nothing to obtain it.

William married Margaret, and they had a son, Jonathan, who unknowingly is thrust into the family business of saving the world.

Nonfiction / Leadership

In the dynamic and demanding field of healthcare, effective leadership is
paramount. “Lead Like A PRO, Inspire Like A LEADER: 6 Core Pillars For
Healthcare Leaders” by Dr. Michael Rivera is not your typical
leadership read; it is a practical guide rooted in real-world experience,
specifically tailored for leaders in the healthcare industry. Rather than
delving into abstract mindsets, Dr. Rivera offers tangible advice drawn from
years of firsthand experience.

Structured around a framework of six essential pillars, this book outlines
the core principles crucial for success in healthcare leadership. These
pillars are not arbitrary; they have been carefully chosen because without
them, achieving success in healthcare becomes an uphill battle.

One of the main challenges healthcare leaders face is the constant barrage
of distractions and pressing issues. It’s easy to get caught up in
firefighting mode, losing sight of the foundational aspects that ensure
smooth operations on a day-to-day basis. Too often, leaders fixate on a few
major issues while neglecting others, resulting in overall
inefficiency.

Memoir

I’d like to tell you a story. It’s a fairy tale of
sorts…

At the age of twenty-seven, Caroline Rose was finishing her first year of
medical school and in the best shape of her life when she was shockingly
diagnosed with a highly aggressive, incurable, stage IV cancer.

At the age of one, Riley, a Great Dane/Labrador mix, was rescued from
inhumane abuse. An Internet search of rescue dogs during Caroline’s
first remission led her to a picture a large broken dog with empty eyes that
resembled her own. One impulsive decision later, Riley became a Rose.

This is the story of two lost souls coming together as one and their
journey together through family, love, loss, pain, and hope.

Dear Riley Rose radiates the humor of Riley’s antics during even the
toughest of times and illustrates the courage it takes for every being to
rise up and choose life in the face of adversity.

Love heals us. Hope carries us. But is that enough for us to believe in a
happy ending?
