Contemporary Romance
Date Published: February 27th

There are moments in time that stand out more than others: your first kiss, a special birthday party, seeing your baby for the first time, an intimate conversation, a first date, even something as little as sitting around a dining room table with friends. This is the story of the moments that stood out after I first laid eyes on Noah Gish. ~ Claire Sawyer
The city, it used to be a place I loved and missed with an ache in my gut. It was home. The place where I grew up, where I had fun, where I had my friends, where life was as good as I knew it to be. Then I was shipped off to a place that begins the story of how I fell in love, just to screw everything up. ~ Noah Gish

That thought is halted the minute she walks in. Long, soft waves of brown swish inside the doorway. Below that hair is a petite, very petite, package full of curves. flawless ass wrapped in some tight jeans, tiny waist, full breasts seen at a side profile, outlined in a gray V-neck shirt. Those soft globes peeking out as she inhales. The ideal hourglass figure.

I haven’t even seen her face and I’m already picturing what I would do to her. I want to feel her skin. I can imagine how silky it would feel, how soft and conforming to my grip. How it would feel under my lips. Taste on my tongue. I want to lick her back. Every curve of …

Again my thoughts come to a halt. My erection stops mid-growth. Her face. Those eyes. My heart stops. It literally. Fucking. Stops. I don’t even think I breathe.

I’m not a fan of clichés, but from my reactions—my stopped breath, my stopped heart, the jaw dropping, eyes devouring, not to mention sexual thoughts paused … and now my heart is beating like I just ran a marathon, quick breathes, heart attack approaching. If I believed in it, I think I am experiencing love at first sight. And from the looks of her—paused mid-step, eyes locked on mine, rapid breathing, mouth parted, now trying not to look at me—I would say she is experiencing the same dubious phenomena.

Her face, if it had to be described in one word, it would be angelic. Her skin is impeccably fair, with a pretty blush to her cheeks. Her eyes are big and doe-like, so sweet, innocent, and the most beautiful shade of blue I have ever seen. They are fanned by the thickest lashes, and the arch of her brow just begs to be outlined by a finger. Her lips are the closest to natural red I have ever seen on a girl. And I know it’s not makeup; there isn’t a stitch of it on her pretty fresh face. Her nose … I want to press a kiss to that little nose.

What the hell am I saying? One look at this girl, and I am a puddle of mush.

Literature is my passion. I like to challenge myself and grow in my writings. I have many unfinished books and some that have been published under a different name.

My passions include the arts: music, photography, writing, dance, painting, films, architecture—anything that is creation. There is not much I don’t like; and if I don’t like it, I at least appreciate the process it took place to create it. This is something incorporated in all my books.

In my spare time, I enjoy being out in nature, travelling, spending time with family, and reading. I read everything, from contemporary to paranormal, and history to science. Learning is something very important to me.

REVIEW – ETCHED IN BONE BY ANN BISHOP

etched in bone - cover

New York Times bestselling author Anne Bishop returns to her world of the Others, as humans struggle to survive in the shadow of shapeshifters and vampires far more powerful than themselves…

After a human uprising was brutally put down by the Elders—a primitive and lethal form of the Others—the few cities left under human control are far-flung. And the people within them now know to fear the no-man’s-land beyond their borders—and the darkness…

As some communities struggle to rebuild, Lakeside Courtyard has emerged relatively unscathed, though Simon Wolfgard, its wolf shifter leader, and blood prophet Meg Corbyn must work with the human pack to maintain the fragile peace. But all their efforts are threatened when Lieutenant Montgomery’s shady brother arrives, looking for a free ride and easy pickings.

With the humans on guard against one of their own, tensions rise, drawing the attention of the Elders, who are curious about the effect such an insignificant predator can have on a pack. But Meg knows the dangers, for she has seen in the cards how it will all end—with her standing beside a grave…

From the Hardcover edition.

BOOK DESCRIPTION COURTESY OF AMAZON

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

Etched in Bone (A Novel of the Others) is an Awesome addition to this series! Anne Bishop is a master in world building. Etched in Bone takes up after the last book Marked in Flesh. The Elders have wiped out some of the human run cities to quell the Humans First uprising. Now there are only a small number of human run cities and they are few and far between. The Others have started to populate the cities that were purged. They are putting humans that they trust in those cities to help the Others run them efficiently. Only certain ships are allowed to traverse the waterways to bring supplies to the cities. This book was such a joy to read! This is the last book in this series at the moment, and to my understanding there will be another series branching off to follow the life of another cassandra sangue, or blood prophet. Sometimes it is hard to say good-bye to old friends, and that is how I view these character. So, until the next book or series comes out, I urge you to start this series or get this book to complete your collection. I recommend this book and series to everyone. You will not be disappointed!! I give Etched in Bone 5/5 stars.

Excerpt

Zoe shivered as the wind picked up and swirled the fallen leaves around her feet. The tree branches above her head had started to sway in the wind and brushed against her head scarf. She looked around the grounds, which were cast in shadows. It was a moonless night and the smell of rain hung in the air adding to her growing annoyance. They were standing just outside their backdoor. Eva had one hand resting on the panel, and Zoe put her arms around her waist and rested her head against her back.
“It’s getting cold. Can we hurry up?”
Zoe heard Eva’s quiet chuckle as she went about unlocking the door. “You have the patience of a flea, and just so you know, the flea is probably deeply offended,” Eva whispered making both of them laugh. A soft click was all that was heard when Eva slid the bolt as quietly as she could make it. “All done.”
“What was that?”
“That was the bolt, love. I muffled the noise.”
It still amazed Zoe every time she saw Eva use one of her gifts.
Eva slowly pushed the door open only to hear a loud scraping noise. She turned around and stared wide eyed at Zoe.
“What is a chair doing there?”
Zoe sighed. “My fault. I told Berta to put a chair there.”
“You do know that if someone wanted to break in, they can go through those large windows?”
“It made sense at the time,” Zoe whispered as they entered the kitchen.
“I love you dearly but sometimes you just do the funniest things.”
“I know.” Zoe giggled. She pulled Eva’s shirt and Eva stopped and turned around. “Can you feel them?”
“Yes. Two humans.”
“At least they’re not demons, because that would require more than my gun.”
“I’m pretty sure even the demons fear you.”
“Ha ha, smarty pants. Let’s go scare the idiots inside. They are bound to have heard the chair.”
“Maybe they didn’t.”
A gentle thump-thump above their heads indicated whoever was up there was on the move. “Okay, let’s go.” Zoe took the safety lock off her gun. She was about to move forward when she felt Eva’s arms around her. They held each other for a moment and then Eva kissed her on the head. Without another word, Zoe edged forward with Eva behind her. Eva’s height was enough to warn Zoe if anything was coming and she had a clear line of sight to whatever was coming towards them.
Zoe came to the entrance of the living room and stopped. She looked up into the darkened ceiling. The intruders were up there and they were slowly heading their way.

EXCERPT

“Face me.”

With a hiss, I suck air into my lungs as I turn and once again I see that intensity in him—a wildness—as his eyes meet mine. He’s coiled so tight he looks like he’s ready to snap. I feel a tug between my legs—tight, painful…needy.

He puts his hand on my shoulder and presses down. “On your knees.”

When I don’t move, too shocked, too thrilled at the way he’s acting, he says, “Now.”

His demanding voice resonates through me, and I swallow a raspy breath. Wanting everything he’s offering, I sink to the floor, my mouth inches from his crotch. He rips into his pants, and a cry catches in my throat when his cock pops free. Make me suck you. Make me take it until I choke. He doesn’t bother taking his jeans off. Instead, he shoves them down his thighs, far enough out of the way for me to pleasure him thoroughly.

“Open your mouth.”

As hunger consumes me, my brain shuts down. Acting completely on instinct, I part my lips like I’ve been ordered, and he grips my hair, wrapping it around his hand three times. There is a familiarity in his move, but my body is shaking so hard from excitement—my lust-saturated brain nothing but mush—that I can’t quite figure it out.

I widen my mouth to accommodate his girth, and he says, “Don’t move. Don’t speak.”

I swallow my whimper and go deathly still, afraid to do or say anything and break this moment. My pussy clenches in agony, and I’m certain I’m going to orgasm again.

“Wider,” he commands.

I open my mouth as wide as it can go, and he drags me closer to his cock.

“Let me see your tongue.”

EXCERPT

Jess emerged from the bathroom and came to the bed. All of the calm I had found moments ago evaporated.

He climbed in, lying on his back, and immediately pulled me into his side with one arm wrapped around my shoulders, the other propped behind his head.

At first, I wasn’t sure what to do. Every muscle in my body was tense. Jess felt it too because he shook me lightly. “Relax, Georgia. Sleep.”

“I can’t relax, Jess. You’re in my bed.”

“I’m aware.”

“Well, at least let me slide over to my side,” I said.

“No. Just relax. You’re sleeping here.”

“Seriously, Jess. I’ve never slept next to anyone other than Rowen before. I won’t be able to like this.”

“Really?” he asked.

“Really what?”

“Never slept next to a man before?”

“Uh . . . no.”

Damn.

I had just opened the door for us to talk about my past relationships, something I was not ready to do. Obviously I wasn’t a virgin, having a four-year-old kid across the hall, but I didn’t think we were at that point yet where we shared the intimate details of our pasts.

And I really didn’t feel like talking about mine. The words “Nate Fletcher” tasted sour and made me sick.

“Good,” he muttered.

Well, that was surprising. I figured the sheriff would jump all over the chance to interrogate me. I was so relieved that he didn’t, I inhaled a deep breath and settled into his side.

It took me a few minutes, but the tension finally left my body. And when it did, I was shocked to find that sleeping on Jess was comfortable. Really comfortable.

I’d read about it in romance novels and seen it in movies but it had always seemed fake. I doubted that any woman could be comfortable squished into a man’s hard body. Sleeping like that wasn’t real, it was just a romantic notion.

I was glad to be proved wrong. This was nice.

Enjoying his warmth, I curled into Jess’s side and relaxed my head in the crook of his neck. One of my arms was underneath me while the other rested on his torso.

Jess’s scent filled my nose. I had gotten hints of it before, but now that I was lying on him, I could really breathe it in. It was amazing. Clean and fresh.

“What kind of soap do you use?” I asked.

“Not sure. Cheapest one they have at the store. Green apple, I think.”

“Hmm . . . I like it.”

Tomorrow I was adding green apple soap to my grocery list.
