REVIEW – BOUND FOR NIRVANA BY KENDRA LEIGH

bound for nirvana
The bonds of their love saw them through the ravaging storm to the promise of peace and the chance to breathe …

Angel once believed her soul belonged to the Devil. Now she willingly gives every part of her—mind, body and soul—to the man whose love mends her a little more each day.

Ethan knows Hell is no place for an angel, especially not his Angel. He would sacrifice his soul every day of his life in order to save hers.

Fueled by an almost obsessive desire, their need for each other ignites a passion that most couples could find destructive, but instead the flames of their possessive vigilance only seem to feed the fire of their insatiable hunger. The slaying of Ethan’s demons has made their fortress of love stronger than ever.
But Angel continues to paper over the cracks of her troubled past, running from the demons that chase her and the nightmares that plague her. When a twist of fate forces her to confront them, she finally begins to accept that her repressed memories need to be explored in order to attain the peace she craves.

But in her search for Nirvana, Angel discovers far more than buried memories.

What happens when the worst nightmare you’ve ever encountered is the one you wake up in?
When the past comes face to face with the present to reveal a web of diseased secrets and lies?
And the only road you can take leads to one destination … Hell.

Bound For Nirvana

Book 3 of The Bound Trilogy, by Kendra Leigh.

Relentlessly sexy. Emotionally deep. Tangled, twisted, intricately woven love story with romance and suspense. For readers 18 and over due to explicit sexual content.

I was given this book by the Author for an honest review.

I love  BOUND FOR NIRVANA! This series just gets better and better. Ethan and Angel are such great characters, and have grown a lot since the first book. Their relationship gets stronger, but something will shake it once again. The past will come up and things become clearer about the death of Angel’s Mom. Everyone needs a man like Ethan who is loving and caring. The chemistry between these two is so hot, that you will need a cold shower after reading. I will definitely will be reading more from Kendra Leigh. I recommend this book and series to everyone. I give BOUND FOR NIRVANA 5/5 STARS.

REVIEW – A RED-ROSE CHAIN BY SEANAN McGUIRE

a red-rose chainThings are looking up.

For the first time in what feels like years, October “Toby” Daye has been able to pause long enough to take a breath and look at her life — and she likes what she sees. She has friends. She has allies. She has a squire to train and a King of Cats to love, and maybe, just maybe, she can let her guard down for a change.

Or not. When Queen Windermere’s seneschal is elf-shot and thrown into an enchanted sleep by agents from the neighboring Kingdom of Silences, Toby finds herself in a role she never expected to play: that of a diplomat. She must travel to Portland, Oregon, to convince King Rhys of Silences not to go to war against the Mists. But nothing is that simple, and what October finds in Silences is worse than she would ever have imagined.

How far will Toby go when lives are on the line, and when allies both old and new are threatened by a force she had never expected to face again? How much is October willing to give up, and how much is she willing to change? In Faerie, what’s past is never really gone.

It’s just waiting for an opportunity to pounce.

A Red-Rose Chain is the ninth installment in Seanan McGuire’s urban fantasy October “Toby” Daye series.

A RED-ROSE CHAIN is a perfectly paced, edge of your seat read. This series just gets better and better! October “Toby” should have nothing else on her mind, is her future wedding of the King of Cats. Instead she is battling a pack of Mauthe Doog. Which come to find out was that they were only afraid, because they could not get back home. She calls Madden to help her and he finds a place for Mauthe Doog. While at Queen Windermere’s knowe, She receives a missive of an impending war with the King of Silences. Now this king was put on the throne by the Queen of the Mists. Who in the last book Toby defeated. Well, Toby is in deep do-do again. She has been chosen to be a diplomat of Queen Windmere and go to the King of Silences and convince him not to go to war with Queen Windmere. In true Toby fashion, she mucks it up as usual. Now it’s them or her. I love Toby and her gang! I recommend this book and series to everyone, and I give A RED-ROSE CHAIN 5/5 STARS.

BOOK REVIEW – DRAGON ON TOP BY G.A. AIKEN

dragon on top
I am Glheanna the Decimator. I am a warrior. A soldier. I know no fear. No pain. No mercy. I do, however, know acute embarrassment! How could I not after getting dumped by a bastard dragon in front of my own troops? So I tuck tail and return to my cave, drowning my sorrows in ale—as is my family’s way. But instead of leaving me to my misery, I’ve been summoned to the Dragon Queen’s court.

As if my life wasn’t pathetic enough, Her Majesty now has me escorting the highborn Bram the Merciful through dangerous territories—not exactly the best use of my military training. And just so he can negotiate with enemy dragons instead of battling them? Honestly, what has my world come to? Then again…Bram is quite easy on the eyes. And the perfect distraction for what ails me. Perhaps I’m looking at all this the wrong way. Maybe there is a place for a little “mercy” in my life…

Previously published in Supernatural.

DRAGON ON TOP is a laugh-out-loud, great read. Bram is the quiet scholarly type in a family of boisterous dragons. He has loved Glheanna for a long time, but he didn’t think she would go for a dragon like him. Now the Queen has assigned Glhenna to go with Bram to negotiate a contract between the Lightning dragons. They are ambushed by a group that does not want this meeting to take place. Glhenna is mortally wounded and he has to get her help, and the only one he can think of is the Sea dragons. Now they are trapped in the sea,  while Glhenna heals and they get very close. They find out that they are meant to be together  and nothing will get in the way. This book will have you laughing like all the other books by G.A. Aiken. She always delivers a great read. I want to be part of the Cadwaladr clan, they are a lot like my family. I love my family, and I love this family. They always bring a smile to my face. DRAGON ON TOP is a great book and I recommend this book and series to everyone and I give it 5/5 stars.

REVIEW – DARK HEART OF MAGIC BY JENNIFER ESTEP

DARK HEART OF MAGIC
“Jennifer Estep is a genius!” –Simply Nerdy

Something Wicked This Way Comes . . .

As a thief, I stick to the shadows as much as possible. But when the head of the Sinclair Family picks me to compete in the Tournament of Blades, there’s no escaping the spotlight–or the danger.

Even though he’s my competition, Devon Sinclair thinks I have the best shot at winning what’s supposed to be a friendly contest. But when the competitors start having mysterious “accidents,” it looks like someone will do anything to win–no matter who they hurt.

As if I didn’t have enough to worry about, mobster Victor Draconi is plotting against Devon and the rest of my friends, and someone’s going around Cloudburst Falls murdering monsters. One thing’s for sure. Sometimes, humans can be more monstrous than anything else…

DARK HEART OF MAGIC is an exciting YA urban fantasy. I love the character of Lila! She is a kick-ass character, who knows what she needs to do and gets it done. All the characters are well-developed and the story line is also well-developed. Something or someone is spooking the tree trolls and are driving them into town. While trying to figure this out, Lila has been chosen by the Sinclair family to compete in the Tournament of Blades. While competing in the tournament, someone is sabotaging the tournament. Now, Lila has to find out who is doing this, even though she has an idea who is behind it. Lila will find out some truths about her past that she was wondering about. This is such a great novel, and I recommend it to everyone. I give DARK HEART OF MAGIC 5/5 STARS.

BOOK REVIEW- THE VAGABOND VICAR BY CHARLOTTE BRENTWOOD

THE VAGABOND VICAR
All William wanted was to save the world. Now he cannot even save himself.

William Brook is an idealistic young cleric, desperate to escape dreary England for a mission adventure in exotic lands. It’s his worst nightmare come true when he is posted to a parish in a tiny backwater village, populated with small-minded people and husband-hunting mamas. He’s determined not to form any ties and to escape the country as an independent single man.

A free spirit, Cecilia Grant is perfectly content to remain in her family home in Amberley village – when she’s not wandering the countryside at all hours painting. Marriage options are few, but that won’t stop her mother from engineering a match with one of the ruling family’s sons. Cecilia attempts to win the man, but what is it about the new vicar and his brooding ways that is so appealing? Could he be the only one who has ever really understood her, and can she discover what he is running away from?

As William struggles not to fall in love with the lady’s intoxicating beauty and mysterious eccentricity, he finds himself drawn into the lives of the villagers, despite their best efforts to alienate the newcomer. When he makes it clear he’s not sticking around, Cecilia strives to restrain her blossoming feelings for him. Just when it seems love may triumph, dark secrets are revealed in Amberley and a scandal from William’s past may see the end of not only his career, but his chance at finding an everlasting love.

The Vagabond Vicar is an unashamedly romantic historical novel you’ll fall in love with. If you love Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer, can’t get enough of Downton Abbey or Cranford, or just prefer old-fashioned boy-meets-girl stories, try reading Charlotte Brentwood. Fans of traditional regency romance or clean historical romance won’t be disappointed.

Sensuality level: sweet,clean (only kissing)
Please note, although there is some mention of religious subject matter due to the hero’s occupation, this is not an “inspirational” novel.

William wants to leave England and spread the word of God, but he is sent to a town to replace the Vicar who has passed away. As Cecilia and William grow closer, William decides that he does not need to escape England to spread God’s word. He has everything he needs here with Cecilia . I give THE VAGABOND VICAR 4/5 STARS.
