Macon – Blog Tour

Today we have the blog tour for Macon by Marie James! Check it out and grab your copy today!

Title: Macon

Author: Marie James

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Macon:

Tossing a middle finger to Macon, Georgia as I made my way to Nashville was always the dream. Sing country music, go on tour, top the charts—with my popularity growing every day, I was on my way.

But then a gust of wind blew up your skirt, and those white cotton panties had me hooked. I didn’t know your name, and you turned down every attempt I tried to throw your way. But I knew you were different, even though you told me I was the same.

“Friends” is what you offered, and I played by your rules, but, Adelaide Hatfield, you have to know, from that day, it was only you.

I just hope I can make you see how much you mean to me before we both drown in the sorrow of what heartbreak can truly be.

EXCERPT

“Friends don’t do that,” I pant as I push him away.

My eyes never leave his lips, and I feel the brush of his tongue deep in my soul as it licks away my taste. He’s temptation personified, and thinking around him is hard enough without his hands and mouth on me.

“I don’t want to be your friend.”

My eyes dart up to his, my heart cracking at his words.

He reaches for my hand, and I pull away from him, taking a staggering step back.

“I want so much more from you,” he qualifies.

“You don’t date,” I counter.

“I can try.” The hope in his eyes almost has me agreeing, but I know his kind. Even if I didn’t have firsthand experience, I couldn’t take a chance on someone with a greater chance of hurting me than being able to live up to my expectations, but, man, did I want him to be that person.

“Try?” I don’t bother to hide the frown that draws my eyebrows in. “You want me to risk my heart—my virginity—on you trying?”

“Virgin?” He shakes his head, and I bristle at the disbelief in his voice.

“Yes. You don’t have to say it like that. They exist. We aren’t unicorns.”

“Just as mystical these days,” he mutters, taking a step back.

I expected a maniacal grin to turn his lips up, expected the thrill of conquering a challenge no other man has managed to fill his eyes, but he seems more turned off by it than anything. It makes no sense, and that annoys me even more. It’s unexpected, and makes me feel like he thinks I’m unworthy of the fight.

“How does that happen at…what, twenty? Twenty-one?”

“Twenty-one,” I confirm. “My father is also a pastor, so if there’s any other reason for you to run away scared, that should be the icing on the cake.”

“Wow,” he mutters. “Let’s head back to my truck.”

He turns in the direction we just came, and I follow.

“So you can take me home?” I frown at his back, feeling all of the rejection I’d laid at his feet ten minutes ago.

“So I can take a seat. You just put a lot on my plate.”

Today we have the release day blitz of Always You by Roxie Noir! Check it out and be sure to grab your copy!

 Always You cover

Title: ALWAYS YOU

Author: Roxie Noir

enre: Contemporary Romance

About Always You:

I’ve been broken since the day I was born, with a past full of ugly secrets and a brother doing life in prison.

Not that you’d know it if you read the tabloids. According to them I’m the rock-solid guitarist for the biggest band in the world. I’m the dependable one. The steady one. The anchor.

They don’t know the truth. No one knows who I am underneath, once the music is over and the lights are off.

No one but Darcy.

She’s my best friend. She’s my fucking savior, my light in the dark, beautiful as hell and talented as fuck and every bit as broken as me.

And I fucking yearn for her. I have for years. I see the way she looks at me, what’s behind her eyes.

I know what she thinks about alone, in the dark, because how could I not know.

It’s getting worse. Every second, every heartbeat, every moment we spend together and every secret we share makes me want her more. Even though I know that one kiss, one night could ruin everything we have, I need her.

And for Darcy, I’ll risk it all.

Exclusive Excerpt:

If there’s a heaven, it probably feels a little like this, playing in perfect time with three other people while thousands more cheer for you. Suddenly everything that we went through to get here is worth it: ironing out guitar and bass licks in the studio at three in the morning, heading home as the sun rose. Arguing over a chord progression for three hours, practicing the tricky parts until I got blisters.

We end the first song and slide into the second without even stopping for a beat, just like we practiced. Darcy’s bass swoops low and then rises, the only sound for a couple of bars, and I look over at her.

She’s fucking mesmerizing. Every single fucking time, all eyes on her for these few bars, and even though I know she doesn’t like being the center of attention it’s glorious when she is. The curve of her neck and she tosses her dark hair back, the line of her shoulders in her dress, her fingers on the bass.

And her legs in that short dress, covered in ripped fishnets, wearing boots. Jesus Christ, man. One hundred percent pure rock chick, loud and careless and brash and don’t-give-a-fuck as hell.

I’m gonna be honest: Darcy’s crazy hot all the time, but right now is when she’s the hottest. Right now’s the time when I wonder again what would happen if I finally stopped pretending that I don’t want her and just fucking did something about it.

But then I join back into the song and the wild, nearly-uncontrollable urge fades back to its normal level, always there but under control. As I do she glances over at me, a little smile on her face like we’ve got some kind of secret, just the two of us, even across the space and the noise of the stage.

I smile back because we do. We’ve got lots of secrets. Darcy knows things about me that no one else does, and vice-versa.

We finish that song, and the momentum only builds. The crowd gets louder, stompier, and we move again into the third song without stopping. This one’s slower, not exactly a ballad but as hard as the first two. I’m already sweating under the stage lights, playing a little slower, a little softer.

It’s a lull, a respite, a brief meditation from the madness. I let the air buzz around me and find this quiet place, my hands on autopilot for a moment.

And then there’s a bang.

It’s loud as hell, behind us and way overhead where there shouldn’t be a bang and I flinch, then whirl around wonderin what the fuck that was.

Then there’s a second bang, the fizzle and flash of a lone firework.

I keep playing on autopilot, but my stomach turns uneasily because Dirtshine doesn’t have fireworks.

There shouldn’t be fucking unannounced pyrotechnics, I think, glancing toward the side of the stage. Is that left over from the band before us, or did someone fucking forget to tell

The bass line cuts out in a jumble. I jerk my head over.

She’s on fire.

Best friends since sixth grade. A ten-year high school reunion. A truth they’ve danced around for a decade.

About the Author:

Armenian by heritage, born in Iran, lived in Barcelona, and escaped New York until he found his home in Los Angeles, Ara’s first eleven years were both busy and confusing. The fruit salad of languages would slow down his genetically encoded need to tell stories. Until then, an alter ego would be required…

He received an engineering degree from California State University Northridge and earned his MBA from the University of Southern California. Today, he is a technology executive in the entertainment industry. True to the Hollywood life, Ara wrote for a children’s television pilot that could have made him rich (but didn’t) and nearly sold a video game to a major publisher (who closed shop days later).

But something was amiss until his wife read him the riot act. “Will you stop talking about wanting to be a writer and just do it?” So with her support (and mandate), and their two boys serving as his muse, he wrote stories.

Fascinated by the human species, Ara writes about choices, relationships, and second chances. Always a sucker for a hopeful ending, he writes contemporary romance stories. He is an alumnus of both the Santa Barbara Writers Conference and Southern California Writers’ Conference (where he also serves as a workshop leader). Ara is an active member of the Romance Writers of America and its Los Angeles chapter.

Ara is represented by Stacey Donaghy.

Exclusive Excerpt:

“I watched this last night, and I just want you to see it too.” Renee clicks on a video.

His voice, belting out the words of a well-known song, pushes from the small speakers. They don’t give him the justice he deserves. His voice, his presence, demands the acoustics of an arena and countless eyes of a sold out crowd.

“Do you see what I mean?” Renee asks, pointing to the screen.

The video was recorded just to the left of where he was looking, and I know where his eyes were—locked with mine. I felt each and every one of them last night as if his choice of songs were hand-picked for me. It warmed me then, and I can’t deny the heat filling my blood as I watch now.

“He’s enraptured by you,” Mandy whispers, as if speaking too loud will break the spell he has over me.

“He’s a performer,” I counter.

“If it were only about performing, he would be looking around, trying to make each person there feel like he’s singing to them.” I sense Renee’s gaze on the side of my face, but can’t pull my eyes from the dark-haired man on the computer screen. “He only saw you last night.”

I could never believe that. Trusting it would be harmful. To my heart. To my mental health.

I run my finger over the track pad of the mouse and close the video.

“And he only saw someone else three days before.”

I click on another video—one I’ve watched a dozen times, and let myself fantasize in more detail than I ever should’ve allowed.

Axton’s voice channels through the speakers as he looks into the camera with raw emotion. His words vow his devotion, promise his love, his future, and every thought to that person.

“I’m not special to him. He sings like this all the time.”

Both of my sisters remain quiet, and why shouldn’t they? There’s no questioning the way he’s making the person with the cellphone camera feel. I was her last night. It’s awesome in the moment, but confronted with the truth of his philandering, I have no interest in anything involving Axton Lane.
