The
last memory that Alannah ‘Lanie’ Jackson has of her father is the day he went
away. Hidden away in an attic from the rest of the world, the only thing that
Alannah ‘Lanie’ Jackson can hold on to is the memory of her father and the hope
that one day he will come for her. Every day that passes, the memory of her
childhood disappears and she learns that her only purpose now is to please.
Trained to act a certain way, the day comes when she can finally be free. She
only hopes that the man who purchases her will be kinder than her current
master.
Excerpt
The
wind had been whipping around all morning. If I hadn’t known better, I would
have thought that I was in the Arctic instead of Oregon. There wasn’t very much
that I could see through my small window, but it was big enough to see that the
bare branches of the oak tree that had died long ago were swinging in the wind.
Not many people came to visit the mansion since I began living here fourteen
years ago. But in the last six months no one came to visit at all. At first, I
thought it might have been due to the change in weather, but then Master
Winston said it was because I didn’t live up to their expectations and
therefore, I was of no interest to them. He blamed it on my inability to learn
and lack of obedience.
Moving
away from the window, I ducked my head and wandered over to my small bed, which
was nestled in the corner of the space that was my room. Pulling the covers
over my body, I tried to keep warm. The attic was very poorly insulated and the
exposed beams that held the rafters were proof. Sometimes it had gotten so cold
that I could see my breath. I found the best way to keep warm was to pull the
covers up over my head and trap the warmth of my breath beneath them.  As much as I hated this room, I hated what
waited for me on the other side of the door when Master Winston came to call
even more.
Closing
my eyes, I let my mind wander. As I slowly began to fall asleep, I imagined
myself as the fairytale princess who was locked in the attic by her evil
stepfather, waiting to be rescued by a handsome prince. I knew the chance of
ever being rescued would be slim to none, but just the thought of it actually
happening was something that I would never stop hoping for. I wished that
things could be as they were when I was younger. I would give anything to be
together with my father again. So much time had passed since I’d seen him that
every day that went by, my thoughts of him were dimmer. I feared that soon I
would forget him all together. I wasn’t sure if it he would even be able to
find me. Last Chance, Oregon, was just that, and not many people came here. I
don’t think many people knew about this out-of-the-way town, at least not
anyone who cared.
“Push
me higher, Daddy, I want to go higher and fly like the birds.”
“Lanie,
if I push you any higher you are going to fall.”
“I
won’t, Daddy. I promise to hold on tight.”
The
warm wind felt so good against my skin. I loved my new swing set. It was pink
and purple and had two swings, a slide, and a Roman glider. It was the perfect
gift for my fifth birthday. I knew why my dad had put in so many hours at work.
It was so that he could buy me this swing set. Pumping my legs harder, I could
feel myself going higher and higher. It was as though I could reach the birds
above me.
Letting
go of the chain, I reached out to touch one. It was so close, but not close
enough. I felt myself falling from the swing. Instead of hitting the ground as
I should have, I was sent spiraling into a pit of fire.

Even
though some may say I have a little naughtiness in my books, I look at it as an
added bonus for my readers. After all what is a romance book without a little

When
I am not writing, I enjoy spending time with friends either at home or out on

DIRTY POOL teaser 1

SYNOPSIS

To get what he wants, he’ll have to play a game of dirty pool.

Michel Marcello never wanted to be a mafioso like every other man in his family—he wanted to be more. That doesn’t mean he’s unfamiliar with the life, or that he can’t hold his own against other made men.

They forgot where he came from …

His chance encounter with the fiery and beautiful daughter of Detroit’s most notorious Irish mob boss stokes flames beyond the ones that ignite between Michel and Gabbie Casey. Rivals shouldn’t mix, but these opposites have never been more attracted, either.

The lines between family loyalty, their duties, and responsibility begin to blur.

Love ruins all.

But these two aren’t the only ones playing this game, and it just became far more dangerous to get out alive.

*

Dirty Pool is a standalone romantic suspense.

EXCLUSIVE REVEAL EXCERPT

“What good would it do me to tell you to stay away from the lad, hmm?” her father demanded sharply. “I think I have said more than enough over the last several months since you’ve run around with the prick that it’s clear I don’t approve. But whatever it is, you’re determined to see it through, so I might as well let you get it out of your system now before reality comes to wake you up.”

“What does that even mean?”

Charles scrubbed a hand down his face. “You’ll learn in time. As I intend.”

“I—”

“And as for that Italian fecker,” her father continued, “he needs to pick a side, Gabbie. If he wants to entertain the Italians in the daytime, and then shift with my daughter in the shadows when no one is looking, then the man can’t be trusted, can he? A lad like that … his mind is too sharp, lass. They had to know what he was doing, and then he can decide what he really wants to do. I know where he comes from, and you have to watch him like it, too. I need him to know that I am aware of his choices, and he has others to consider now.”

“Are you giving him the ultimatum, then? Them, or us?”

Charles arched a brow. “It isn’t that complicated, sweetheart. You don’t have to understand when all I want you to do is follow along.”

Wasn’t it that complicated?

She thought so.

“Follow along with what?”

Charles waved a hand at her, and she knew what that meant without him telling her. A dismissal. He was done with their discussion, and she was quite aware how that worked with her father. Once he was done, he was finished. No amount of her prodding or pressing would get more from him.

“I have men to deal with,” he told her. “And you haven’t checked your sugars since this afternoon. Go do that now.”

“My sugars are fine!”

Do it.”

She wasn’t a child.

She still felt like it sometimes.

Charles gestured at the group of lads that had attended the meeting, too, and were now waiting in the hallway just beyond Gabbie. Without waiting for her to really move out of their way, they pressed past her in the tight quarters, not even bothering to excuse themselves or pass her a second glance.

She wasn’t important.

Dismissed.

“Da—”

“Go, but not too far because I expect to speak with you again later,” her father ordered one last time. Then, to the men in the office, he added, “They never intended to settle, lads. That much is clear. We won’t act … yet. We’ll wait and see what they do first, aye, and then we’ll make the hard choices.”

Charles shut the door in Gabbie’s face, essentially leaving her alone in the hallway. It was amazing to her how she could feel so many things all at once. Anger warred with her disbelief and astonishment. Panic swelled in her heart, swirling with anxiety and sadness.

Did it really have to be like this?

What did that mean for her?

For Michel?

For them?

She didn’t know, and she didn’t like it.

Cross + Catherine: The Saga teaser

Excerpt

“You didn’t answer me. How have you been, babe?”

“I’ve been okay,” she replied.

Cross smiled, but he thought maybe she was only saying that for his benefit. “Still running for your cousin?”

“Maybe.”

Catherine had always been good at three things: loving him, hustling drugs, and lying. Cross doubted much of that changed.

“Sure you are. Why else would you be here?”

Catherine waved at her plate. “Delicious food.”

“Mmhmm.”

Before he could think better of it, Cross reached across the table and grabbed Catherine’s hand. The dozens of bangles on her wrist jingled against the tabletop. He found her skin was still soft, warm, and all his. He squeezed her hand and ran the pad of his thumb across her knuckles. Her fingers trembled just a second before she tugged her hand away.

“Don’t do that, Cross,” Catherine said.

She didn’t want him to see the way she hid her hands from his sight. It was too late; he couldn’t possibly miss it. Only once in their long relationship had Cross truly missed something Catherine wanted to hide from him, and it had been their ruin.

He was never going to make that mistake again.

“Still as stubborn as ever, I see.”

“You liked it,” she retorted, unable to stop her grin.

“I might still.”

Catherine’s eyes widened. “Excuse me?”

“What are you doing this weekend?”

No.

Stupid.

Bad.

He was going to get his ass shot.

He had been warned.

Cross didn’t drop his gaze, or move an inch.

“Uh …”

“Go out with me,” he said.

Catherine didn’t blink. “Um.”

“Come on, Catty, you always had a quick response for everything I or anyone else ever said. Don’t disappoint me now.”

“Cross—”

“Catherine, hey.” A man wearing a chef’s jacket that Cross didn’t recognize—and didn’t fucking care to—strolled up to their table. He wore a cocked eyebrow and an irritating smile. Cross considered stabbing the man with the knife on the table just because he interrupted. That shit was rude. “Andino was asking if you were still here. He wants you to head back to the office for a few.”

Catherine blinked up at the man, clearly recognizing him. Cross certainly didn’t like the way the man looked at Catherine like the two were … familiar.

Were they?

He didn’t know.

Cross would bet the man certainly wouldn’t want to know what he would do to him if he did know.

“Who is this, Catherine?” the guy asked. “You haven’t mentioned having a friend.”

Cross didn’t miss the man’s resentment in his words. Definitely something there, he thought. He met the man’s gaze for a brief second, and then dropped it just as fast. Whoever the fuck he was, the guy wasn’t important to Cross.

At all.

“Thanks for letting me know about Andino, Jamie.” Catherine let out a sigh, and stood from the table leaving her unfinished plate and Cross behind. “Cross, it was nice seeing you.”

Cross smiled and murmured, “Likewise, Catherine.”

She stiffened a bit. Something that looked a hell of a lot like memories flashed in her eyes. Then, she was gone.

Jamie, the irritating chef, stayed behind. “Can I help you?”

“Sure,” Cross said with a flick of his wrist, “by fucking off somewhere.”

“Excuse—”

“I said what I said, so go.”

“I don’t know who the fuck you are, but—”

“Andino does, so run back and let him know I’m here.”

“And who are you exactly?”

“Cross Donati.” He looked up at Jamie and smirked. “Or you might know me as the reason you couldn’t keep Catherine interested long enough to get anywhere good.”

Jamie’s face whitened.

Cross flicked his wrist again. “Now do as I said, and fuck off somewhere.”

The man fucked off.

EXCLUSIVE RELEASE EXCERPT

“You got a job for me, or what?” Renzo asked.

Dare’s jaw muscles tightened, but he nodded. Probably happy that they were now onto an entirely different conversation. Nobody said dealing with Renzo when he was in one of his moods was particularly easy.

Even he knew that about himself.

“Folder on the desk—black strip across the front,” Dare murmured.

Ah, great.

A black strip on the folder meant the job came directly from M. It was the only way Dare chose to differentiate from the jobs he negotiated for Renzo, and the ones that came specifically from M for him to do.

Crossing the office, Renzo picked up the folder, and flipped it open. He found the picture of a tanned-skinned man with short, black cropped hair and brown eyes attached to a sheet of details with a simple paper clip. He gave the picture about five seconds of his attention before lifting it up to read the bit of details it covered.

Christian Savino.

32.

Born: Sienna, Italy.

Known drug trafficker.

Renzo took in the rest of the details about the man before quickly closing the folder, and giving Dare his attention again. The man still hadn’t come further into his office, instead opting to stand in the doorway.

“So the job is what, kill him?”

Because the file didn’t say.

Dare shook his head. “M wants you to keep an eye on the man, apparently. He doesn’t come over to this side very often—most of his business stays on his side of the world, I suppose. Except, he’s here for a span of time. Could be a couple of weeks, could be a lot more. For whatever reason, your boss has reason to believe that while he’s here, he could cause trouble. So yes, keep an eye on him. Report back to me once a week, and I will relay whatever information you give to M. He will decide what to do from there.”

Renzo blinked.

Like a fucking idiot.

“You want me to babysit some fucking Italian because he came to America?”

All the skills Renzo had … the shit he could do, and they wanted him to babysit somebody?

“That’s a joke, right?” Renzo asked.

Dare glanced at the folder. “That’s a folder from M, Ren. Do you think that’s a joke?”

Jesus Christ.

“Fine, where is this … Savino now?”

“Apparently, California,” Dare replied, “but it’s possible he’s doing work across the states, too. You might have to follow him.”

Renzo heard a lot in Dare’s statement, but only one thing registered to him.

California.

Lucia.

He knew better—he needed to stay away until the five-year term was up. The rebel in him was fucking dancing, though.

“Yeah, all right,” Renzo said. “Cali first, then.”
