Candi knew hot things happened behind closed doors at the Pearl Beach
Resort. After all, the place was owned by bisexual billionaire playboy Boris
van Donk, who had a reputation for taking on all comers.

Candi’s family of origin was strictly religious, and she has never given or
received more than a chaste kiss in her 21 years. Between bad-boy Boris and
her geeky, fun-loving, porn-writing housemates, an awakening of her desires
is inevitable.

Excerpt

On the Beach

Two women and a man, all hospitality workers in their early twenties, sat
in a remote spot on the soft pink sands of Pearl Beach Resort. Pearl Beach
was a tropical hideaway in the Caribbean Sea, offering both relaxing days
and exciting nightlife for adults. Fire Isle’s nearby sister island,
Moonlight Island, was home to Sunny Coast Hospitality College. Some of the
school’s graduates became managers of luxury hotels. Others loved
Pearl Beach so much that they stayed on as employees. The three companions
were in the latter category.

During the first meeting for new students, the odd trio, though appearing
to have little in common, became fast friends. They complemented each other,
and their zeal for their coursework led them to graduate in three years
instead of the usual four. Upon graduation, the three friends
enthusiastically accepted the offer of employment at Pearl Beach Resort with
a three-bedroom cabin to share.

The college and the resort were both presided over by Boris van Donk, a
Dutch billionaire whose reputed sexual excesses earned him the nickname
“The Dirty Dutchman.” It was rumored that he enjoyed introducing
neophytes of both sexes to his fabled collection of erotic toys and
practices. Despite his libido being the stuff of legend, van Donk conducted
himself with dignity. He never forced his desires on disinterested
parties.

Despite their enjoyment of one another’s company, the trio realized
there were many things they didn’t know about each other. They wished to
strengthen their bond and dedicated an hour every week to unofficial group
therapy. During this time, anyone could share his or her secrets. The
friends were currently involved in one of these casual counseling
sessions.

Daniel Manley did not experience a single moment of human kindness when
cast out as a child onto the merciless cobblestone streets of 19th century
London.

One unsympathetic evening, while he lay cold and alone in a dark alley, he
pleaded for death over living his abhorrent life a single moment longer.
Upon taking his last gasp of frigid air, a mysterious voice emanates from
the alley’s darkest corner, stopping his despair. Daniel scans the darkness
for the voices’ origination.

His fear turned to optimism as he takes solace in the words spoken by his
newfound savior, ‘Father.’ Guided by Fathers, ‘sound advice,’ Daniel does
his bidding, reigning terror on all who cause society’s ruination.

Is Father a figment of his imagination, or is he possessed by a dark beast
that feeds on his unanswered prayers?

Children’s & (young at heart) Short Story Rhyme Book

Publishing Date: January 17th, 2022

A humorous short story Childrens Rhyme Book about a haunted house, a young
boy, ghosts and a mouse.

This Halloween rhyme story was first written by Lawrence at an early age
who remembers always being curious at the appearances of large abandoned
houses around his hometown neighborhood. Lawrence’s imagination would often
get the best of him and he often thought of how spooky those unoccupied
houses seemed to be and he then would ask himself, is there really such
things as ghosts and goblins lurking in the shadows of those large weird and
empty houses? Writing about such nonsense was a great way to share those
thoughts and to sometimes get lots of laughs from, not only himself, but
also from many of those who would listen to him recite such farfetched
rhyming stories, whereby it was always Lawrence’s intentions to someday
publish the many rhyming stories he continued to write and share with others
from an early age and until this day.

EXCERPT

The man who had broken my heart on my twenty- third birthday walked out of the backroom. Eight years was a long time. My heart had since healed. Or so I had thought. Seeing him again ripped open old wounds. And darn it if he didn’t look as attractive now as he did then. It would have been easier to run into him again if he were fat, bald, and ugly. But he was just as handsome as before—all tall and sinewy. He still wore his black hair shaved close to his head, and I recognized his Hawaiian shirt as one I’d bought.

After the long road trip, I had to be a sight and not a knock ’em dead one. I almost twitched my nose, ready to cast a spell to smooth my hair and add a little color to my cheeks, but stopped. With my luck, magic would decide the enchantment was for personal gain and turn me into a hag. I ran a hand over my head instead.

“A customer thinks your ice cream is delicious. What else?” Karly said.

“Thank you.” Roman threw a friendly grin my way. His mouth fell open. “Peyton?”

Since vanishing in a puff of green smoke wasn’t an option—partially because it would expose magic and partly because I wasn’t even sure that was possible—I returned his smile. I wouldn’t let him see me rattled.

“Do you two know each other?” Karly asked.

“Ah…yeah.” Roman’s jaw muscle twitched the way it always did when he was flustered. I bet he wished he could vanish in a puff of smoke too.

Scott

Something wasn’t adding up here. Scott Quinn frowned at the data
scrolling across his computer screen while comparing it to the file sizes
collated at the bottom. None of this made sense. Not the file sizes nor the
access times or the user accounts identified with random files. To be
honest, it looked like accidental typos or errors, yet there were too many
of them to write off.

Movement out of the corner of his eye drew his attention. He couldn’t
help but smile at the window separating his office from the IS pool. She had
arrived. Scott watched with interest as Phoebe Walden entered the outer
office and took her place at her assigned computer. Only a few months had
passed, but Scott was used to how she captivated all aspects of him.

Those instincts, the ones that had kept him alive, had been explicit in
their need the first time he had laid eyes on her. They wanted her in their
den, where they could keep her forever.

Scott knew it was crazy. But he was used to it after all these years,
coming to terms with behaviors by no means human. The trick was learning to
coexist with them, to incorporate them into his human life. To trust they
would never lead him down the wrong path.

That meant he was planning to ask the delectable Phoebe out on a date. Now
granted, there were issues to overcome. One, he was her direct supervisor,
so there was an element of inequality within their power dynamics. Two,
there was a company policy about fraternizing among coworkers that he was
planning to disregard completely. And three, there were the secrets he
carried with the potential to drive a wedge into any trust they might share
in a relationship.

Scott watched through the glass. His smile widened into a grin. Phoebe had
a little ritual she followed every day shortly after she arrived. It was the
highlight of his morning to watch her perform it. After a thorough cleaning
of everything on her desk, she would carefully unpack her messenger bag. He
was amused while extremely curious about the little knickknacks she placed
on her desk in full view of everyone, but mainly her.

There was a small folding picture frame and a small silver orb he thought
might be a ball bearing, of all things. And last, a small wrench she propped
atop the picture frame. Such a weird combination of items, yet Scott knew
every one of them was significant in representing aspects of Phoebe’s
life. He couldn’t wait to delve deep. To know her. To understand all
the quirks that made her up.

Ping.

Scott frowned at the Instant Messenger alert. He clicked it open with a
sigh. It was from his boss.

M. Foltz: Did you complete the audit?

Of course, he wanted to know if the audit was complete. Scott rolled his
eyes, annoyed Miles wanted an update already when the e-mail dictating the
assignment had only come out this morning. But God save him from people who
were tech illiterate. Or, in Miles’s case, tech dumb.

S. Quinn: The audit is going to take the better part of a week to complete.
If you allow me to bring in help from the IS pool, it can be completed in
three days.

Ping.

M. Foltz: No, the data is sensitive. It requires the highest of clearances.
Complete it as soon as possible. Send regular updates.

He scowled. Not only was this going to be another case where Miles took
credit for all his hard work, but to complete it quickly would require more
than a few nights of burning the midnight oil. His plans for the delectable
Phoebe were being put on hold.

S. Quinn: I’ll do my best. There will be an initial report by the end
of the day.

Fuck. Miles was really starting to get on his nerves. A low growl worked
its way up through his throat while his nails scratched a set of grooves
into the wood of his desk. Maybe it was time to be more proactive at home.
To thin the herd.

“Ahem.”

Scott’s head jerked up to see Phoebe standing in his doorway with her
eyebrows slightly furrowed. How much had she seen? Shit, how much had she
heard? Because that growl was in no way human-sounding.

“I did knock.” Her voice was professional, but her face still
indicated she had witnessed his less than human annoyance.

“Do you need something?” Scott cringed internally. His voice
sounded sharp. Too sharp. Damn Miles.

She smiled with those fire-engine-red lips. They had him shifting
uncomfortably in his chair. “Something’s wrong with my headset.
It’s nothing but static. Do you have another one I can
use?”

He wasn’t surprised. They worked for a multibillion-dollar
conglomerate that provided substandard products for its departments. Scott
got up from his desk to get one out of the supply cabinet. He always made
sure to order the crap items in bulk for this very reason.

“Of course.” He grabbed a box with the right headset in it.
“Here you go. Are you settling in okay?”

Phoebe gave him a genuine smile. “Yes, things have been great. I was
worried I wouldn’t be cut out for this, but so far, so
good.”

Scott blinked and had to yank his more animalistic instincts back. The
attraction was strengthening so much, so it briefly stunned him.
“I’m glad. Don’t hesitate to ask if you do need
something.”

That earned him another smile before she returned to her desk to get to
work. Shaking his head to clear the lust-filled fog she had caused, Scott
returned to his desk. As he got back to work, a portion of his brain was
dwelling on Phoebe and the best way to go about working his way into her
life or her into his.
