You Raise Me Up centers on the author’s journey of coping with his wife’s
passing. Anyone who has lost a spouse can use this book as a tool to recover
from loss. In this book, the author feels his late wife’s outstretched-
blanket that helps to cope through, “Grief”, “to Smile”,
“to Laugh”, “to Respect” and most important, “to
Lead”. Those were her “fruits” to live by.

EXCERPT

Everyone Grieves Differently

“A variety of factors, including your personality, your

support system, and your natural coping mechanisms

will determine how loss will affect you. Some people feel

better after a few weeks or months, and for others it may

take years. The grief process is non-linear; in the midst

of recovery there may be setbacks. For that reason, it’s

essential to treat yourself and others with patience, kindness,

and compassion as you allow the process to unfold.

Not only do we all experience grief differently, but we

also express grief in our own unique ways. While some

people’s loneliness or sadness may appear to be more

pronounced, others may keep their feelings of grief to

themselves. Throughout the healing process, grief’s

manifestations may vary in amount and intensity. Take

time to listen, experience and understand them.”

“Grief is like living two lives. One is where you pretend that everything

is okay, and the other is where your Heart silently screams ‘I’m

in pain’.”

“Small things that mean a lot: cut texts, tight hugs, long replies, holding

hands, remembering the little things, and kisses on the forehead.”

“I’ve come to realize that nothing in this life can prepare us for losing

someone we love….NOTHING!”

“Promise me you’ll always remember that you’re braver than

you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

Christopher Robin to Winnie the Pooh

“When we get to the end of our lives together, the house we had, the

cars we drove, the things we possessed won’t matter. What will matter

is that I had YOU and you had ME.”

Good dogs are obedient, loving, loyal, protective, and friendly. They honor
their masters, bark only at the right times, and inspire us to be better
through heroism, perseverance, and selflessness. Dogs have weak moments, too.
They poop blue, jump out of car windows, and, at times, might be nicknamed
the “Devil Dog.”Better Than Our Dogs uses funny and engaging
stories to illustrate timeless lessons from the book of James. Each chapter
offers practical advice, challenges readers to determine which dog they are
most like, and encourages everyone to be better today. Better friends. Better
people. Better followers of God.

God tells us to endure and be faithful. Sad to say many have gone back into
the world by giving up on Christianity because of difficulties and problems.
Bad things will try our faith in God. Remember God is always in control and
He allows things to happen for a reason.

This book is designed to encourage people that may be thinking about giving
up when their faith in God is tried. In each chapter of the book it starts
out with a pray, a scripture, humorous illustrations most of the time, then
something is stated about faith. Please endure, be patient, and don’t give
up hell is too hot and eternity too long. “When Your Faith is Tried,
Don’t Give Up.”

About the Author

Rudolph (Rudy) Burdett Jr.

Rudolph (Rudy) Burdett Jr. is striving to bring change by presenting faith (gospel) to others. Faith is the only thing we have that the devil is striving to take. Faith is required in pleasing God. Rudy is a devoted and dedicated member and minister of the Church of Christ.
He was able to start a congregation in North Carolina in 2002. He resigned in 2007 from preaching and teaching because of a medical condition that hinders him from functioning. Rudy feels that God has called him to help people by preaching the faith and visiting others. He feels helping the less fortunate is needed, especially feeding and clothing. Prayerfully, food and clothing distribution will be a great future endeavor to embark upon. In Matthew 26:11, Jesus says, “You always have the poor with you.”
