EXCERPT

I N T R O D U C T I O N

Welcome to Change – Short and Simple. I am thrilled that you have this book in your hands and eager to tell you a bit about it, how it came to be, and what’s in it for you.

In all of human history we have never experienced such rapid change in all aspects of our modern-day life as we are today. The pace of change is accelerating exponentially, leaving old paradigms and institutions straining at the seams to keep up. While each of us are influenced in varying degrees by this extreme cycle of change, trying to find our own footing is understandably challenging.

We have limited control over the events around us, but we have 110% control over how we interact with them, and that’s why this book is so important. It wil help you gain the tools you need to thrive in a changing world.

We all want a life with as few compromises as possible. Coming from an athletic background, I was taught at an early age that you the play the game the same way you practice. In other words, you have to put the work in up front for greater ease and success in the future. The inverse is true: if you do not put the work in up front, then at some point life will be harder than it needs to be. One way or another we all will have to put the work in at some point.

In my more than thirty-five years of business, leadership, entrepreneur-ship, and personal coaching, I have been blessed and privileged to learn from so many amazing people. What I enjoy the most is seeing people succeed. Helping people get their thinking unstuck to achieve their goals is very rewarding for everyone.

I am the beneficiary of starting my career in a family business. My father is a thoughtful, creative, tough, and amazingly intuitive leader and enterpenuer. We continue to col aborate on family business matters to this day, and I owe much of my foundational knowledge and business prowess to his mentorship. I am very grateful to both of my parents for always exposing me and my siblings to a wide variety opportunities and experiences.

I was equally fortunate to grow up in the small college city in Southwestern New Hampshire of Keene, where I still maintain home today. This community of approximately 23,000 people is an amazing place to live, raise a family, and conduct business. It is a stable, wel -run city where traditional New England values still run deep. The perfect environment to innovate and incubate.

We all get caught up in overthinking things from time to time even though the perfect answers are usually right in front of us. It’s amazing what answers hide in plan site. It only takes the right word, adjustment in our point of view, or metaphor to align our thinking with the solutions. No two people are alike, and that is why each of our journeys is truly unique. In this work we are going to explore strategies for you to custom-design your own optimal outcomes in these times of extreme change so your journey in life is fun and exciting.

There is no escaping the fact that we will all be forced, even chased out of our known comfort zones at some time or another. This book is about how to manage personal change with grace, order, and foresight. To make the most of our lives we will have to change and evolve, so why not do it on your own terms, willingly, and enjoy all the benefits that embracing change can bring you?

I have been fascinated with change and all its intricacies my entire life.

Change is at the center of everything we know today, from evolution, personal growth, history, science, and innovation. No part of our lives escapes change, in particular, now. Our entire known world came about because of change, yet at times we resist change, and in many cases vigorously. We are going to explore why that is and how to use systems and knowledge so that you can successfully navigate whatever situation life presents you with.

In the coming pages we will explore together how to turn the energy we use to resist change into an energetic force for positive personal growth. We wil delve into the science around how we turn thought patterns into habits and how social conditioning can impact our choices.

Learning through curiosity during change will be a constant theme throughout our journey together. Change is a replicable learning resource. When we stay curious about what we are supposed to learn through change, we increase our knowledge capture for future benefit.

This book is purposefully short so that you, the reader, can master change through self-discovery quicker by not having to sort through volumes of pages.

On our journey together, we will be learning concepts and reinforcing them with self-evaluating techniques and exercises. You will be provided with the actual tools you need to help you decode the process of change.

In the first chapter we will be discussing why we don’t like change and the science around it. In the second, we will discover how we can leverage our natural curiosity for positive change, and in the third chapter, strategies for keeping a positive perspective. The benefits of being an active observer will be our focus in the fourth chapter, which will lead us to chapter five where we will explore how we can use our imagination to remove self-limiting beliefs. We will wrap up in chapter six by learning how to become unstoppable through understanding how self-limiting beliefs, ego, and our heart influence us. In each chapter there are short tables and guides to aid you along the way.

Once we strip down our social conditioning and preconceived notions, the truths around life’s circumstances reveal themselves. It’s commonly said,

“Change is the one constant.” At the heart of all change is the truth around what we are being called to work on as we grow and learn. I find it interesting that what we are challenged by is what we are drawn to master. Through the process of change we can find our greatest truths. These truths are beacons guiding us toward the best outcomes of personal change. By removing all the camouflage around why we resist change, you will find your personal ground zero and from there you can move forward with complete honesty to yourself on what you need to work on for maximum benefit.

Enormous amounts of personal energy are used to resist the truth of what we are being called to learn on the way to meaningful change. All the while frac-tionally small amounts of energy are used to find and accept the truth so that you can use change more easily to your advantage.

By taking moments to stop and reflect on our personal journey of growth, we can identify patterns and cycles, and then benefit from the lessons that are custom designed for each of us during these periods. These patterns are pow-erful learning opportunities, and in a bril iance of design, we repeat each cycle until we fully grasp their respective truths and make different choices for better outcomes. When we choose to embrace the truth around each and accept change, we break the cycle.

The first time you do something new, you have increased your knowledge base by 100% in the area endeavored, regardless of the outcome. There is no failure, just learning opportunities. By being willing to accept change with curiosity and excitement, you will gain wisdom from each experience. This is how we build muscle memory around using change to our advantage.

Silence Your Inner Bitch and Let the Reign of the Beast Begin!

Does the voice in your head fill you with doubt? Are you working harder but
accomplishing less? Is your team a rusty wreck instead of a well-oiled
machine? Are your goals receding instead of getting closer? Are you haunted
by past failures? Does the life you’ve always hoped to live still
elude you?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, it’s time to unleash
the Beast. In The Business Beast, Brian Dyer leads you down a
fulfilling—but sometimes dark and lonely—path. Entering the wild
is dangerous, but it offers rewards you can only begin to imagine, and
you’ll be in good hands as Brian guides you through the four primal
instincts of the Business Beast:

1. Dilate your eyes like the great horned owl: See what others do not and
prioritize what truly matters.

2. Rule your kingdom like the lion: Own and lead your tribe.

3. Enter attack mode like the cheetah: Strike quickly, effortlessly, and
efficiently at the right moment.

4. Hunt undaunted like the honey badger: Develop a callused mind, dismiss
failure, push past pain, and relentlessly pursue success.

Merge these four instincts, and nothing will stop you.

WARNING: This book is not for everyone. If you don’t want to do the
work, if you’re happily winding down your career, or if you’re
easily satisfied by mediocrity, stop reading now. If you value self-esteem
more than self-awareness or self-respect, or if you value the amount of paid
time off you receive from your employer, this book is not for you.

If you’re working hard to live a life of success and fulfillment but
find yourself falling short of your goals, The Business Beast is the answer.
Brian Dyer is in the trenches, viewing, leading, calculating, attacking, and
building some of America’s most successful companies. He knows exactly
what it takes to become a Beast because he’s done it, he’s doing
it now, and if you follow his advice and put it to work, you can be a
Business Beast too. And once you’ve lived the life of a Beast you will
never go back.

If you’re ready to do what real beasts do, let’s go to
work!

EXCERPT

Preface

The instincts laid out in the following pages were forged by fire, but the coals are still hot. I know the strategies work because they are working right now. Each day is another step on my journey to mastering the instincts of the Business Beast. I am constantly learning new lessons, and I want to share them now, not later. You’re likely reading this book as a business leader or hands-on owner who is fighting hard to get out of the trenches to achieve greater levels of success. But you don’t want to get out of the trenches, not really. You’re exactly where you need to be. The trenches are where I learned these lessons and developed these instincts, and they’re where I live today.

I started writing this book to capture important lessons learned in the moment. The authentic stories contained within these pages are raw depictions of daily life on the quest to become a Business Beast. The analogies with beasts in the animal kingdom serve as anchors to internalize the strategies, so you actually use them as you go about your day-to-day operations. This book exists as a live feed into proven methods for success, and as a commentary on common mistakes to avoid. Its primary goal is to incite direct and calculated action.

Practicing the four instincts of the Business Beast will cost you, and the price is blood, sweat, and tears. Pay the price, and unlock a deeper realm of possibility for the growth and success of your business. Life as a beast is painful, challenging, and exhausting. But it’s also exhilarating, rewarding, and fulfilling. As you practice the four instincts during your journey, you will get wounded and scarred along the way, as beasts often do. However, the reward is worth the cost. Once you tap into this way of being, there is no going back. You can never unsee your potential to be a beast.

While writing this book, I visualized the instincts of the Business Beast. As I walked into work, my eyes dilated and I was able to hunt for and focus on our bottleneck (the constraint of our business and my prey) while undistracting myself from the noise of everyday work. I felt an increased responsibility to be a strong leader for my team. Each time I entered attack mode and took action, I knew I was making us better and bringing us one step closer to our potential as a company. As I continued to wake up early to do whatever needed to be done, I felt progressively undaunted by any challenge that dared obstruct the path to our growth and success. Watching the four instincts play out in the real world proved the viability of internalizing and practicing these concepts. As a result, I’m confident they will be useful to others who are ready and willing to practice them.

It’s up to you how you capitalize on the four instincts in this book, but my hope is they trigger you into rapid action at the very moment you need it. I don’t share these instincts as a guaranteed recipe for success because A) you might not want to experience the dark side of success, and B) there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution. The fire is yours to forge. But I daresay that igniting these four instincts will launch you forward faster than you ever expected. Hold on, it’s a wild ride.

At his father’s deathbed, Robert Hamady came to the realization that we don’t really control our actions, even though we may live with the absolute certainty that we do.

In two parts, Hamady breaks down six compelling neurological findings that indicate it is your brain, and not your will, that produces your actions. He follows this with the six principal features, and the wonder, of your consciousness.

In this short guide, you will find yourself questioning what you know about your self and at the same time marveling at just your average day.

Letter To The Reader

There are probably an infinite number of reasons why you might be drawn to take time out of your life to read this book. Whatever the reason, I thank you.

As a student of life, a Goddess, creating my own unique world I have always been fascinated by people, and their stories. I have noticed how their quality of life is coloured by the nature of their closest relationships.

One relationship, we often overlook, is the most intimate relationship of all, the one we have with ourselves. This is the foundation to everything.

What do we really desire? What are we willing to negotiate? Where do our boundaries lay? What is non-negotiable?

One thing we can be sure of is that all relationships are here to teach us, and the depths we are willing to go to, will proportionately reward us with our deepest desires.

Furthermore, life teaches us. As we grow we gather experiences and form opinions. Those opinions change according to our perceptions at any given time. In order to get the most out of life we need to delve deeper, beyond mere opinion.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of life is experienced through the subconscious mind. Here, we store unresolved issues from the past. They come up time and time again, to be recognised and healed. Our relationships, especially our closest, are where it will play out the most. Imagine if we cleared out the subconscious mind? Imagine if we could be more present in the current moment. Imagine what our relationships would look like if we did not project our past onto them, thus dictating the same outcomes over and over.

It takes a brave soul to really look inwardly. In the beginning, we may not like what we see. It is through true examination, with the discipline it takes to keep going, that we reach the goal of tender compassion towards oneself. Only then can we authentically extend compassion to others.

This book invites you to take a glimpse at the way we relate to each other as men and women, how this is magnified through the looking glass of dating Apps, and how to navigate the conundrums these inevitably generate.

I’ve been through the maze and learned from the experiences. Men and women have regularly asked me for advice and so I wrote this book, generated a website, and fostered engagement on social media to tease out the learning points and create better understanding and more LOVE between men and women.

If you would like to connect please feel free to email me, at thelovedoctor@onceuponatinder.com or check out my website onceuponatinder.com.

If you would like to know more about the tools that I have studied to help me navigate life I’d be delighted to share more information with you. There is a Path towards self-mastery, which helps us become the best version of ourselves and it’s here for everyone to explore.

Personally, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you every JOY as you create your own adventure into LOVE. Remember, stay safe, choose wisely, trust your gut and honour yourself.

 With my LOVE always,

 Dr Ann

5 ESSENTIAL DIMENSIONS – BLITZ

5 essential dimensions banner

5 essential dimensions cover

Nonfiction Self -Help
Date Published: August 2016

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

This book unveils an amazing theory. Our lives have five dimensions that are essential for living a healthy, successful, and tranquil existence. These are our financial, social, internal, physical, and spiritual affairs. This book offers insight into helping us recognize the five life dimensions. It will teach us how to bring these dimensions into balance. We cannot reach our potential as individuals unless all five of these life dimensions are balanced. If we neglect any one of them, the ensuing disharmony destroys our tranquility and can wreck our lives. The 5 Essential Dimensions is an attempt to prevent this happening.
Excerpt
If you happen to be a good cook, you’d know that it is not necessary for each individual ingredient of a broth to taste good on its own. Some may be bitter, others sour, or sharp. But by combining them in a recipe you achieve a delicious result. The secret is in having a recipe that balances all the constituent elements to achieve a whole that is far better than the individual ingredients. The same applies to all walks of life. A car factory may be greasy and noisy, but from it rolls a succession of perfect, shiny, beautiful machines.
It is possible to achieve balance in our lives, but to do so we need to ask the right questions. Do not ask “How do I make money?” Instead, ask “How do I achieve equilibrium in my monetary affairs?” Because searching for equilibrium reveals the wisest course to follow, no matter what the issue.
Many people focus so much on trying to make money that they sacrifice either social equilibrium or spiritual equilibrium in the process. They help no one, and ignore morality. Take drug dealers, for example; they make money, but they do it by a process that destroys families, and offends both morality and society. Their very existence is a threat to others.
Similarly, the man who makes money but does it at the expense of taking the time to raise his children properly, or looking after his parents, or being attentive to his wife; such a person destroys his social equilibrium.
He is wealthy, but cannot be considered successful. If he neglects important areas of his life and focuses just on one, he is like a student who learns only one subject. He may excel at chemistry, but will fail all his other exams, and will be unfit for the world of work.
If we make equilibrium our goal we will avoid this failure. We will accord each aspect of our life the value it is due, without trampling on the others. We will pursue money only up to the point that it maintains our financial equilibrium. And when our needs are met we will address other areas that require our attention. In this way, we will maintain our internal equilibrium.

He offers a perspective that will help us to recognize these elements, and provides suggestions to keep them in balance for a better life. Alebraheem’s writing attempts to see things from alternative angles, searching for patterns and creating successful habits for life.
